Privacy Policy

Readimo is a reading tracker and a social app for readers. This page says what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and what you can do about it.

In short: we collect what the app needs to work. We do not sell your data, we show no ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.

1. Who we are

Readimo is responsible for your data. Contact: hello.readimo@gmail.com. Readimo is run by Tim Åström, Sweden (see "Who we are" in the Terms).

2. What we collect

Your account. Your email address (the address on your Google account if you use Sign in with Google, or the private relay address Apple gives us if you use Sign in with Apple), your name, username, profile photo, banner, bio, whether your account is private, and your favourite books.

Your reading. The books in your library with their shelves, ratings, reviews, notes and any price you choose to record. Your reading sessions: when you read, for how long, which pages, and anything you add to a session such as a title, a reflection, tags, highlights, photos or short videos. Your reading goals. The app works out your statistics from these.

What you share with other readers. Posts, comments, mentions, kudos and likes, stories and who has seen them, the readers you follow, your close friends, and the readers you block. Messages: the direct messages you send and the books you share in them, and the messages, notes and invitations in buddy reads you join, kept so the people in the conversation can read them.

Messages to us. Feedback, book requests and reports, with any screenshot you attach. If you email support from Settings, the email attaches a short log with the app version, your device model, iOS version, language, time zone, user id and email.

Readimo Pro. If you subscribe, Apple takes the payment: we never see your card or bank details. Apple and RevenueCat tell us which plan you have, whether it is in a free trial, and when it renews or ends, linked to your account's user id. Whether you have Pro is shown to other readers as the gold check beside your name.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we keep your device's push token, linked to your account, so we can tell you about kudos, comments, new followers and your friends' reading, as you choose in Settings > Notifications. The token is removed when you log out or delete your account. The reminder before a free trial ends is scheduled on your device and sends us nothing.

Imports you start. If you import your library from Goodreads, StoryGraph or Fable, the app reads your export file or the pages you open inside the app, and sends the titles, authors and ISBNs to our servers to match them to books. You sign in to those services yourself. We never see or keep your passwords for them.

What we do not collect. No advertising identifiers, no location (we strip location data from photos and videos before they are uploaded), no contacts, no health data, and no analytics or crash reporting tools. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to scan a barcode, photograph a cover or a page, or add a photo or video, and only what you pick is uploaded.

3. Why we use it

  • To run the app: keep your library and sessions in sync, show your profile and posts to the readers you allow, and show you theirs.
  • To keep Readimo safe: review reports, remove content that breaks our Terms, enforce blocks and stop spam.
  • To answer you when you write to us.

Where the law asks for a legal basis, these are performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in a safe and working service, and our legal obligations. We never use your data to advertise to you.

4. Who can see what

  • Public account (the default): other signed-in readers can see your profile, favourite books, library, and the sessions, posts and reviews you share.
  • Readimo Pro: every signed-in reader can see whether you have Pro (the gold check), never your plan or payments.
  • Private account: only readers you approve can see your reading. Your name, username and photo stay visible so friends can find you.
  • Only me: a session or post set to Only me is never shown to anyone else.
  • Messages: a direct message is seen only by you and the reader you write to; a buddy read's messages only by the readers in it.
  • Blocks: a reader you block cannot see your profile or content, follow you, message you, or reach you through comments, mentions, kudos or a buddy read.

5. Who helps us run Readimo

We use a small number of service providers, each only for the job below:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in, sign-in code emails and file storage, on servers in the EU (Frankfurt).
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, if you choose it, Live Activities on your device, In-App Purchase for Readimo Pro, and the Apple Push Notification service, which delivers notifications to your device.
  • RevenueCat: keeps the record of your Readimo Pro subscription from Apple and tells the app whether Pro is on. It receives your account's user id and your purchase history, never your payment details.
  • Google: Sign in with Google, if you choose it. Google confirms who you are and shares your name, email address and profile picture with us, nothing else.
  • Expo: delivers app updates and passes our notifications to Apple. When the app checks for an update, Expo sees your device's IP address, app version and platform, never your account. For a notification, Expo receives your device's push token and the notification's words.
  • Book data services (Open Library, Wikipedia, Wikidata and Google Books): receive only the search words or ISBNs needed to find book details and covers, never your account.
  • Telegram: reports, feedback and book requests reach us in a private Telegram chat so we can act fast. Such a message carries your display name and what you wrote.

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens we rely on standard contractual safeguards. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect readers or the service from harm.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account in Settings, your profile, library, sessions, posts, comments, photos and videos are deleted from our systems at once. Replies other readers wrote under your comments stay with their authors. Provider backups roll over within 30 days. We may keep a note that the account was deleted, and any reports about it, so that bans hold and the community stays safe.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Edit your profile and reading in the app at any time. Delete any post, session or comment. Delete your whole account in Settings > Delete account.
  • Make your account private, set any session to Only me, and block or mute any reader.
  • For a copy of your data, or any other request, write to hello.readimo@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.
  • If you are in the EU, UK or a place with similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete or take a copy of your data, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to withdraw any consent you gave. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Sweden, IMY, imy.se). Please write to us first so we can put it right.

8. Security

Your data travels encrypted. Your sign-in is kept in your phone's secure keychain. Access to our database is limited reader by reader, so each reader can only change their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours and will tell you if a breach affects you.

9. Children

Readimo is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
