Guide
How to builda reading habit that lasts.
Build a reading habit by making the session small, the same time every day, and visible. Start with twenty minutes, or even ten pages, after something you already do, like dinner or getting into bed. Time each session so it counts, keep a streak you can see, and read where friends can see it. Counting the habit in weeks rather than days lets one missed evening pass without breaking it.
1. Make the session small
A habit grows from a session you cannot fail. Ten minutes counts, and so do ten pages. Every session you time in Readimo counts toward your weekly streak.
2. Tie it to something you already do
After the dishes, on the train, in bed before the phone. A fixed cue does more than willpower.
3. Make it visible
A streak you can see is a streak you protect. Readimo counts streaks in weeks: read on any day of the week and the week counts.
4. Read with people
The strongest cue is another reader. A friend’s kudos on your session, or a buddy read with a deadline, keeps books open on the evenings motivation does not.
5. Let go of the wrong book
Nothing kills a habit like a book you dread. Put it on your DNF shelf and pick up one you want to read tonight.
